Originally from Singapore, Nicholas moved to New York to study Communication Design at Parsons School of Design. While in college, he interned with fashion photographer Steven Klein and Art+Commerce Anthology, working on a myriad of design and photo projects.
After graduation, Nicholas worked in graphic design and art direction on numerous beauty, fashion and lifestyle brands at advertising agencies led by creative directors Fabien Baron, Trey Laird and Doug Lloyd.
His passion for image making also led him to assist numerous avant-garde fashion and portrait photographers including Mikael Jansson, Willy Vanderperre and Steven Meisel on a plethora of shoots. He then worked for renowned British fashion photographer Craig McDean, and concurrently as a freelance art director/creative consultant at numerous agencies and commercial brands.
Under Craig’s tutelage, Nicholas further honed his technical expertise and sensibilities on fashion, beauty and portraiture, while working closely together with his mentor on the conceptual and execution of photoshoots.
Armed with these invaluable experiences in photography and creative direction, Nicholas’s photographs evoke a sense of visual engagement with his subjects, capturing and redefining the expression of beauty and portraiture.
He divides his time between New York and Singapore but travels globally for assignments.
